My testimony of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints began with the Remnant
Conference of April 2000. My wife and I felt the
need for structure in the church and went to the
Conference to observe, sense, and discern the
Spirit. The Conference opened with a prayer by Elder
Alvin Pitt. A prayer that moved us to our very inner
being; petitioning the Holy Spirit to dwell with us
and direct his Covenant people. Lee Killpack,
chairman of the Conference, brought a revelation
that he had received. The message revealed that
three Patriarchs; C. Houston Hobart, E. Daniel
Gough, and Conrad R. Faulk were given the
responsibility to choose seven men to serve in the
office of Apostle in the Quorum of Twelve Apostles.
At that moment, the Spirit spoke to my mind very
firmly that I was to be one of those seven men
chosen for this responsibility. I remember saying to
myself that this could not be. The people assembled
in this Conference did not know me. I did not share
this experience with anyone, not even my wife.
In late June of 2000, Brother Hobart called and said
he and Brother Faulk wanted to meet with Vicki and
me. Vicki asked me what they wanted. I still did not
feel I could share my experience with her, so I
assumed maybe they wanted me to participate as a
Seventy in a worship service or in the September
Conference. The night before the gentlemen were to
come to speak to us, Vicki asked me again if I had
any idea what they wanted to talk to us about. I
responded “lightly” by saying they probably wanted
to call me to the office of Apostle. She very
seriously looked me in the eyes and said “Yes” this
is what they want. I asked her why she felt this way
and she shared her experience with me. Vicki related
to me that when she heard Lee Killpack state that
three Patriarchs would choose seven men to serve in
the office of Apostle, the Holy Spirit spoke to her
mind telling her that I would be one of the men who
were chosen. At that moment, with our bosoms burning
with the confirmation of the Holy Spirit, we knew
that the experiences that we both had were from the
Lord. My prayer for confirmation of this call had
been answered.
What an awesome God we believe in. It is my
testimony that God once again has brought His Church
out of the wilderness by the power of His Holy
Spirit. I pray that I may always remain true to this
Spirit.
