Biographical Sketches of the Remnant Church Women’s Council
|
In 2001 the First Presidency of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints established the Women’s Council to provide special ministry and opportunities for worship and fellowship to the women of the church. Over the intervening years the original make-up of the council has changed, but at this writing two original members of the group are still serving in addition to five others who have come onto the council at various times. The council members are selected by the First Presidency with input and approval from the women’s council leader. Sister Toby Edwards was the first leader and faithfully fulfilled her role for several years. Eventually Sister Edward’s health necessitated her stepping down from active responsibility on the council. Kay VanFleet, also an original member of the council, assumed leadership for the next two years. The current council leader is Marylyn Gosling. The present Women’s Council members are all from the general Independence area and represent the three fully organized congregations in the Center Place. Those women are: Marylyn Gosling, Tina Grippy, Beckie Hogan, Vonnie Tims, Marci Turner, Christy Williams, and Linda VerDught. Over the next few months the various council members will be highlighted with a brief biographical sketch of their life, a personal testimony, and a comment regarding their service on the council. This series will begin with Marylyn Gosling. She bears a strong testimony of her service and of the church.
